B2B Disaster to 2X Revenue

Critical Engineering - Doubled Sales - Increased Profits

B2B Steel Sales Warehouse

The Challenge

A critical B2B distributor suffered catastrophic failure of their legacy Paradox database, which powered all inventory, quoting, B2B sales, and accounting workflows. The outdated system lacked transactional integrity and crashed under local network traffic load, risking excessively delayed data recovery, and business shutdown during peak operations.

Our team member was critical in recovery and long term success. The client was not a technical company - quite the opposite. Paper and arcane database solutions.

Our Solution

Within 30 days, a new system was designed, built, and deployed under emergency conditions.
The lead architect ( Our staff ) started as as front end contracted web developer to department head and lead engineer:

  • Engineered a complete replacement using Microsoft SQL Server, ASP, and Flash dashboards.
  • Designed new schemas for all business processes: coil-specific inventory (heat#, gauge, dimensions, lot), sales lifecycle tracking, client-facing gated B2B portals, quoting tools, purchase coordination, and order-to-shipping logic.
  • Integrated the system with the company’s accounting package (early Microsoft Great Plains) to pass validated journal entries, costing data, and inventory adjustments.
  • Developed API connections for supply side company systems to automate new inventory "into" this new system
  • Created novel "Flash" based dashboards for executive reporting and client-side quote interfaces.
  • Managed a 5-person engineering team and led all architecture, interface design, and stored procedure development, and all IT services

The full system restored operational continuity in 35 days and completed warehouse and accounting integration within 90 days.

The Results

The rebuilt platform stabilized operations, ultimately enabled automated sales documentation, and eliminated paper-based warehouse errors, improved ROI and profits. The company's annual revenue grew from $12M to $35M within 12 months. Staff overhead was reduced significantly, and operational stress dropped across departments dramatically.
